Louet Spinning Wheels
For over a quarter century, the Louët team in Holland has been researching, designing, experimenting, and consulting with you, the customer, to create a superior line of spinning wheels.
Louët wheels treadle lightly, are low maintenance and nearly adjustment free and can be modified with accessories for the expert spinner.
Louët wheels were originally geared towards spinning medium to heavy yarns. Although bobbins and flyers are available for spinning this type of yarn, the standard wheels have been redesigned to be more suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns. The orifice on the standard wheel is sufficiently large (12.5 mm or 1/2") as are the bobbins, (180-250 gr capacity), to allow you to create novelty yarns. Wheels come equipped with a two bobbin lazy kate.
Technically all Louet models are the same. Each wheel has a single belt bobbin drive with an adjustable flyer brake to regulate the tension. The flexible belts are made of polyurethane and never have to be adjusted.
All wheels are packed and shipped partially assembled in a flat box. The required assembly consists quite simply of tightening two nuts for which tools and instructions are provided. The shipping weight is 17-18 lbs.
RATIOS - All bobbins have a sheave with three settings on one
side that can be used to obtain three different spinning ratios. They are:
1:5.5 for slow spinning and heavy yarn; 1:7.5 for medium yarn; and, 1:10.5
for fast spinning and fine yarn. (S45 ratios are: 7:1, 12:1 and 20:1)
The fly wheels of all our models are 50 cm ( 20") in diameter (except
for the S45). They rotate on a maintenance free, lubricated for life ball
bearing pack to ensure excellent spinning ability by allowing them to turn
freely and quitely. The same maintenance free ball bearing is used at the
footman connection. (Absolutely no lubrication is necessary for the bearings
to work correctly)

Louet S10, Louet S15 and Louet S51
Louet’s newest wheel is named Julia, and it will be available in late March, 2008.
The best way to describe this wheel is a Victoria version of the S51DT. Bobbins, flyer and the Scotch tension are the same as on the Victoria.
There are four ratios, which are: 1:6, 1:8.5, 1:12.5, 1:19. An optional high speed set, which is also the same set as the Victoria uses, provides an extra 1:27 ratio and make it easier to treadle the 1:19 on the Julia.
A removable insert provides two orifice sizes (12mm and 8mm). All rotating parts run on ball bearings for smooth operation, while the unit itself is constructed out of beech and birch plywood, smoothly lacquered.
The optional stand-alone Lazy Kate comes with an adjustable brake for the three bobbins it holds.
Wheels are made of laminated hardwood with a "birch" exterior finish.
The base with treadles can be easily disassembled from the upright with the main wheel (unit does not fold) for easy transportation.

Introduced
at Convergence 2006 - compact, folds and very portable. 
Ratios
from 6 to 14 to 1. (Optional high speed flyer with ratio of 20 to 1 to be
available later). Wheel diameter: 14 1/2". Weight: 7 3/4 lbs. The wheel
comes ready-to-spin and includes a free handy carry bag (which can be used
as a handbag, shoulder bag or backpack) and 2 extra bobbins - for a total
of 3 - and a lazy kate. Overall weight: 11 1/2 lbs. Available in finished
beech (solid beech with Baltic birch wheel and treadles) or finished oak (solid
oak and MDF and oak veneer wheel and treadles). Scotch tension system. Folded
size (with flyer and bobbins removed): 5 3/8" x 14 1/2" x 22".
The Louet S17
This KIT wheel is very similar to the S15 model (see below). This is an inexpensive single treadle model, good for the beginner who wants to save money! The wheel features ball bearings, easy treadling, 3 bobbins, a built-in Lazy Kate, and assembly instructions. Uses standard Louet bobbins. A great buy! Optional skeinwinder (same as S15 skeinwinder) fits on top of the wheel.
This Louet is a very portable double treadle wheel reminiscent of the popular but discontinued S40 mini-Louet.
It features a handy delta orifice and Scotch tension and includes 3 bobbins and a lazy kate. Shipping weight of the wheel is 15 lbs.; actual weight approximately 13 lbs. Because this is an accelerated wheel the diameter of the wheels (3) is not important in terms of ratios. Ratios are calculated by one complete cycle of the treadles. The S-45 has ratios of 7, 12 and 19:1.

The Louet S10, Louet S15 and Louet S51
The S10 weighs 18 lbs. and comes with a clear lacquer finish while the S15 weighs 17 lbs. and comes as an unfinished kit; the S51 (16 lbs., clear lacquer finish) combines the durable engineering of the S10 with a spoked wheel for a more traditional look; it is also available with a double treadle. All wheels are made of European beech and birch plywood. The matching skeinwinder fits on top of the wheel.

Louet S75
The S75 is very similar to the above two wheels but is made of solid beech. It has a true double treadle, allowing you to use both feet. (Older versions had two treadles but they worked as one.) The S75 weighs 16 lbs. and comes unfinished. Options: matching skeinwinder, extra regular bobbins or speed bobbins, distaff, high speed 3-ratio fine spinning set, bulky (wide) flyer and bobbins.

REGULAR LOUET BOBBINS: ratios: 5.5, 7.5 and 10 to 1. Specify wheel number when ordering.
LOUET HIGH-SPEED BOBBINS: ratios: 6.5, 9.5 and 15 to 1. Specify wheel number when ordering.
LOUET FAT CORE SPEED BOBBINS: the effect of the 2" core is a smaller amount of pull on the yarn for more control on cotton and fine slippery fibers. Will work on all wheels except for S90 and S87. Ratios: 6.5, 9.5 and 15 : 1. Specify wheel number when ordering.
LOUET BULKY BOBBINS: will give ratios of 4.2, 5 and 6.2 to 1. Require Bulky (wide) flyer.

LOUET BOBBINS FOR VICTORIA AND S45: these are smaller than the regular bobbins noted above and only work on these wheels.
LOUET SKEINWINDERS: these mount on top of the wheels and make it convenient for skeining from your bobbin. Most Louet models have a matching skeinwinder; they are listed above with each wheel model.
LOUET FINE HIGH SPEED SPINNING SET: this set will convert your regular Louët wheel into a faster spinning wheel, better geared for spinning medium-fine yarn; it includes highspeed flyer (same as S90 - use either eye or hooks on flyer), 3 fat core bobbins with 3 speed ratios and drive belt.
LOUET HIGHSPEED FLYER: for fine spinning; will fit any Louet wheel except S87 and S90. Comes with 3/8" orifice and sliding hook and guide. Included in spinning set above.
LOUET BULKY (WIDE) FLYER: to hold bulky bobbins. 1/2" orifice.
LOUET 4-BOBBIN LAZY KATE: for single treadle
wheel you receive an extension for your Kate base and one 2-bobbin wire rack
so you will be able to hold 4 bobbins.You also receive 2 new bobbins.
For double treadle wheels, you receive a support arm and rack (plus 2 new
bobbins) that is placed on one side of your treadles to match your original
rack which you already have installed.
